This blog is about people with disabilities in and around Rourkela,a small town in Western Orissa, India. These children and adults with disABILITIES probably deserve a better deal from everyone of us and the society needs to be sensitive enough to meet their needs and demands as human beings and provide them their basic rights.

Rashmirekha Sahoo- A Down's girl is an accomplished Odishi Dancer celebrated her birthday on 30th April. Rasmi is seen here on her b'day in company with her proud parents Smt. Subhagini and Sri Gaurahari Sahoo. Both parents have taken keen interest in Rashmi right from early childhood days and fought valiantly with the intellectual disability of their daughter. Apart from being a an accomplished dancer Rashmi now does many a house-hold chore like washing clothes, dish-washing, preparing tea and chappaties and many more social chores. She was trained by the special educators at Home and Hope, Sector-17, Rourkela and the parents took keen interest and the results are seen to be believed.
